How to Create a Good Blog: Part 2-Finding your Inner Blogger
OK, so you want to create a good blog. You now know what kind of blogger I am, and you aren’t about the money or digital diary fetish. Now you need to decide how you will blog.
MY STORY
I’ll tell you my story. Though I started Louvature in March of this year, I am sad to say that it wasn’t my first blog. I can’t even count the number of times I have attempted to start blogs before Louvature. It was ugly. I’ve had other aliases, tried other platforms, etc, but none of my previous blogs lasted more than a week or two.
Here’s an example of one of my older shitty blogs: http://louvature.wordpress.com
Sucks right? I only had one damn post and ironically ended it with “I’m Baaccckkkk!!!”. The next week I was gone. I don’t even think anyone ever visited the blog. Anyways, that is not how you want to end up. Blogging is actually harder than it may seem. It takes dedication, and hard work. This was my problem. I didn’t have the dedication. That’s why I have done so well with the tumblr platform. I know people poke fun at it and call it the lazy mans blog platform, but it seriously is. Its so damn ez. This is where I meet the main purpose of this post: Choosing a Blog Platform.
CHOOSING A BLOG PLATFORM
Yeah I know, some of you people are saying, “Hey! I don’t want a blog platform! I want my own website and code it and use html and css and shit”. Well, yal can go do that. I personally don’t give a shit. I choose to use a blog platform because it makes your life easier, makes getting hits easier and everything else. I’ll give my advice on which to choose. I’ve only tried three so bear with me.
If you are the person who wants a blog with text, I would recommend either Blogger or Wordpress. I personally enjoyed wordpress a lot more than blogger. I would probably still be with wordpress had I not run into some legal issues and had to kill the blog….but that’s another story.
WARNING : Creating a blog where the main focus is text can be extremely difficult. Unless your blog is focused at a specific niche, where you can constantly talk about one thing, it is actually difficult to come up with posts. This is especially frustrating when you first start off blogging. You will spend hours researching and writing a post and then only receive a couple hits of enjoyment.
The other road is the one I’ve taken: The lazy one. If you don’t want to waste your time writing long posts and looking for cool things to talk about I would recommend, tumblr. Its fast and easy to use. Some people think tumblr is a cult, but that’s bullshit(as long as you don’t go to any tumblr orgies). I can post pictures and video in ten minutes and then leave the computer. Its mint.
